| Hey everybody! I'm KoshiSushi! Decided to make a topic that dealed with Let's Plays. Such as what to do, if you're new, etc.. While I'm here I might as well give some tips or something. Feel free to give tips of your own.
Never use a camera! If you're gonna do console games, then try not to use a camera! It will usually screw you over if you're trying to edit, and most people don't like the whole look. Get a capture card if you can! They usually cost about 30-50$ at the least. But if you can't, there are usually work-arounds.
If you're gonna record something on you're compooter, then you're gonna need a screen recorder like Camstudio, which is COMPLETELY free. Also...Don't try to pick up the audio from the computer too your mic. (Assuming you're gonna be narrarating) Use something like StereoMix. Especially if you're doing Mario ROM hacks.
Try not to use an emulator. Unless you ABSOLUTELY need to, and that you have a good enough computer. If you have a vista like me, don't even try. And by emulator, I meant like Gameboy advanced emulators. Try to get a capture card for the gamecube and a GameBoy Player if you're gonna do Gameboy games.
Actually take time to edit you're Let's Play. ESPECIALLY if the game includes a ton of backtracking. *cough* Thousand-Year Door *cough* You can edit things with free programs like Windows Movie Maker, which is very simple, and easy to edit with. Or you could be like most people and use Camtasia Studio or Sony Vegas. As you can tell from my videos, I take a HUGE amount of editing. It almost hurts...
If you're gonna do a huge Let's Play series, then try to get a good enough computer that can handle enough space, because you will be working with HUGE files. Also try to get a few back-up files, because ANYTHING can happen.
And one final thing: besides Super Mario Hacks, actually know the game before you hit the recording button.
Hope you guys have a great day and have fun with you're Let's Plays.

Hope you guys have a great day and have fun with you're Let's Plays. Great advice, Koshi. I enjoy watching your LP's and i'm considering doing my own. If i did do my own then it'd probably be of Batman: Arkham Asylum, as it is a perfectly structured game for a LP. I'd need a capture card and decent microphone first, though :/ - Chazza
